Twenty-four law enforcement officers are now holders of certification which was presented to them on Friday, July 29, 2022 as proof that they had successfully participated in training on implementing the new Domestic Violence Act No. 11 of 2022. The event which took place at the Police Force Academy at La Toc, also saw the launch of the publication entitled -” A practitioner’s guide to the Domestic Violence Act No.11 of 2022”.
Director of Gender Relations Ms. Janey Joseph says her Department was quite pleased that the crop of participants was extremely involved during the three days of intensive training facilitated by herself and other professionals of the Gender Affairs Department.
Minister for Home Affairs the Honourable Dr. Virginia Albert – Poyotte who piloted the legislation in Parliament in March this year, delivered the feature address and assisted in the presentation of certificates. The Minister called for the training to be replicated among other key stakeholder’s agencies and civil society given its significance in Saint Lucia’s thrust towards gender responsive policing.
